The K to 12 Basic Education Program uses a standards and competency-based grading system. All grades will be based on the weighted raw score of the learners' summative assessments. The minimum grade needed to pass a specific learning area is 60, which is transmuted to 75 in the report card. The lowest mark that can appear on the report card is 70 for Quarterly Grades and Final Grades.
Learners from Grades 1 to 12 are graded on Written Works, Performance Tasks, and Quarterly Assessment every quarter. (See image after this post).
The sum of the Weighted Scores in each component is the Initial Grade. This Initial Grade will be transmuted using the given transmutation table to get the Quarterly Grade (QG)
The Quarterly Grade for each learning area is written in the report card of the student.
For Grades 11 and 12, the two quarters determine the Final Grade in a semester. The Final Grades in the two semesters determine the Over-all grades.
REPORT CARD
A report card is the written record of the student achievement and personal deportment in school.
The report card is issued three (3) times a year at the end of every grading period. Students are expected to show their cards to their parents/guardians and have them signed. Tampering with the report card through erasing grades or forging signature, etc., is a grievous offence which will mean 70% in Conduct. Parents who wish to check academic behavioral performance of their children should make an appointment or conference with the subject teachers concerned. School authorities will not be held responsible for the forfeiture of complaints of parents who fail to attend to such important matter.
GRADES DEFERRED
Delayed submission of necessary requirements in any subject has to be filed one (1) week after the quarterly test. Failure to clear his/her deferred grade will mean the lowest possible grade for the requirement missed.
